Urola Greenway
NOTE: The greenway is closed between Azkoitia and Urretxu due to a landslide. More information will be provided as soon as we know how long the repair work will take.
Along the valley of the forges
From Zumárraga, the former Urola railway accompanied the river after which it is named as far as Zumaia, where it linked up with the Basque coastal railway. Today, part of its route has been upgraded as a greenway that invites us to tour the villages and mountainous landscape of the Gipuzkoa regions of Urola Medio and Alto Urola, featuring such interesting sites as the Basque Railway Museum, the Sanctuary of Loyola or a visit to an old forge. Without a doubt, this greenway is a must.
