Vasco–Navarro Railway Greenway Nature Trail
From Estella-Lizarra to Mekolalde/Bergara via Vitoria-Gasteiz and Arlabán Pass following in the footsteps of "El Trenico"
The Vasco-Navarro Railway Greenway revives the much-loved narrow-gauge railway that connected Estella-Lizarra to Bergara via Vitoria-Gasteiz. Known as "El Trenico" (The Little Train), it has provided us with a surprising route that, in Navarre, Álava, and Gipuzkoa runs through the regions of Tierra Estella in Navarre, Montaña Alavesa and Llanada Alavesa in Álava, and Debagoiena in Gipuzkoa.
IMPORTANT: Since several tunnels have not been reopened, the Laminoria and Arlabán Pass sections now require taking alternative routes that are a little more difficult than the greenway itinerary.
