Plazaola Greenway Nature Trail
From the Pamplona basin in Navarre to the most unspoilt places of Leitzaran in Gipuzkoa, following the trail of the Plazaola Railway
The old route of the Plazaola train, which linked the regions of Navarre and Gipuzkoa, is a true natural sanctuary. Surrounded by leafy slopes of beech and oak trees, a small narrow-gauge railway meandered tirelessly until its closure in the mid-20th century. Today, upgraded as a greenway-nature trail in more than 77 of its original 84 km, it features a spectacular itinerary that is open to the silent passage of cyclists and trekkers eager for almost-virgin natural beauty spots.
