Ruta de la Plata Greenway Nature Trail (Plasencia - Béjar)

From the capital of the Jerte Valley to the Sierra de Béjar along the Ambroz Valley

This route along the old Plasencia-Astorga railway features a good number of attractions between the provinces of Cáceres and Salamanca as it crosses a lush and very diverse territory. It extends from Plasencia, capital of Jerte, through the region of the Ambroz Valley and the cattle pastures, passing through wooded pastureland and deciduous forests until it reaches the foothills of the Sierra de Béjar, declared a Biosphere Reserve. And as if this were not enough: old stations restored with new tourist services, railway elements along the way, attractive villages and the nearby vestiges of the Roman road between Augusta Emerita (Mérida) and Asturica Augusta (Astorga) –which the "Vía de la Plata" is called after– put the icing on the cake of an itinerary with nothing to waste.
